ASTM Testing & Compliance

ASTM is an international standards organization that develops and publishes voluntary consensus technical standards for a wide range of materials, products, systems, and services. ASTM is the abbreviation of ‘American Society for Testing & Materials’. ASTM is one of world’s biggest & oldest not for profit standard making organizations.  Some 12,575 ASTM voluntary consensus standards operate globally. The organization's headquarters is in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, about 5 mi (8.0 km) northwest of Philadelphia.

ASTM also offers certification programs that cover products including materials, systems and services as well as personnel to demonstrate via an independent third party compliance to standards.  Two of these are the USDA Voluntary Bio-based Product Labelling Program and National Center for Aerospace & Transportation Technologies.

ASTM does not participate in requiring or enforcing compliance with its standards.  However, contracts with corporations or governments may specify compliance to a particular standard. For example, all toys sold in the United States must meet the specifications of ASTM F963, the Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety per the U.S. Government Consumer Product Safety Improvements Act of 2008. CDG is the leading ASTM Testing, ASTM Compliance & ASTM Certification company of India.

SAR Testing

Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is the unit of measurement for the amount of radio frequency (RF) absorbed by the body when using a wireless device. SAR testing measures the electromagnetic energy absorbed by a body using a wireless device. SAR testing is intended to verify that a device does not exceed a country’s established RF exposure limits. The SAR value is expressed in terms of watts per kilogram (W/kg) or milliwatts per gram (mW/g). Government agencies around the world are increasingly focused on the health and safety impact of products using RF transmitters. Manufacturers of wireless devices are required to demonstrate their products' compliance with the RF exposure limits set forth in national specific absorption rate (SAR) regulations. The most generally accepted method for measuring SAR values is the direct method SAR test. CDG provides SAR Testing on portable and mobile telecommunications equipment. Your product will be tested with state-of-the-art equipment, using cutting edge technology, providing you with accurate and dependable RF exposure measurements.

Parameters that can affect SAR include:

  • Types of radio service (cellular, PCS, LMR, WLAN, etc.)
  • Types of modulations (CDMA, GMSK, TDMA, AMPS, etc.)
  • Physical orientation to person (held-to-ear, held-to-face, belt-clip, lap-held, etc.)
  • RF power level (in Watts or mW)
  • Changes to transmitter, antenna (extracted/retracted) or accessories (clips, batteries, etc.)

We Conduct SAR Test for Following Standards:

IEEE STD 1528 IEEE, FCC OET 65, IC RSS-102, EN 50361, EN 62311, IEC 62209-1, EN 62209-2, ACMA, ARIB STD-56, EN 50360, EN 50364, EN 50371, EN 50385

Contact CDG for all your SAR Testing requirements.
